When planning out your urgent care’s marketing strategies for the year, don’t forget to include community involvement to show area residents your staff is approachable and trustworthy. If you’re struggling to figure out how to add community involvement to your urgent care’s marketing plan, here are a few suggestions:

  • Participate in charitable events, such as runs or walks and toy or food drives.
  • Attend local sporting events, perhaps partnering with your local high school to make your physician the official physician for their sports teams.
  • Host events at your location. If your hours of operation do not allow you to host an event, consider being a drop-off location for a toy or food drive. This is a great opportunity to get people into your facility, making it much more likely they will return with an actual healthcare issue.
  • BONUS TIP: Post photos on your clinic’s Facebook page of your staff participating in community outreach. Facebook can be a very important way for you to start interacting with your community, but if you’re constantly posting self-serving updates on your page, you’re going to have a boring Facebook page. No one’s going to be interested! But if you’re showing how engaged you are with the community, your page will take on some real community presence.

Remember: Make sure the name of your urgent care center is on the jackets or shirts you wear to these events so the community knows who you are.

Fairway Medical Urgent Care in Louisiana has done a great job integrating community involvement into their urgent care marketing plan. When their local rotary’s club’s annual chili kick off came around, some of the staff members attended the event dressed as the “Chili Chicks.” They posted photos on their Facebook page of their staffers dressed in colorful wigs and homemade aprons. Photos like this are just plain fun and, in some cases, may even go viral. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there like Fairway Medical did; your community will appreciate the opportunity to interact with you and get to know you.
