This position is for a business analyst whose primary function will be to gather and document business requirements for Practice Velocity’s suite of applications. Practice Velocity develops software and provides services over the internet to customers throughout the country.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for gathering and documenting business requirements through process flows, use cases, workshop facilitations, investigations and interview sessions
  • Responsible for delivering business requirements, functional specifications and other critical documents such as workflow diagrams, etc.
  • Lead and work with subject matter experts to complete specifications
  • Work with stakeholders to perform feasibility studies, process change requests, review specifications, trace requirements during implementation, review test cases and deliver a compelling product to the market
  • Assist with the business case
  • Assist with the design and review of the testing plan
  • Contribute to enterprise architecture development from a business needs perspective

Qualifications:

  • Interviewing skills – ability to talk with individuals and groups about their needs and ask the right questions to discover essential requirement information. Experience in effective techniques to gather requirements, including UML, process flows, use cases, interview skills and workshop facilitation.
  • Facilitation skills – ability to lead requirements definition workshops
  • Analytical skills – ability to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish presented user requests from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements. In short, help stakeholders figure out what they truly need so that compelling software solutions result.
  • Organizational skills – ability to work with the vast array of information gathered during requirements research and analysis and to cope with rapidly changing information
  • Interpersonal skills – ability to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among representatives from various functional areas
  • Modeling skills – ability to represent requirements information in graphical forms that augment textual representations

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in business or computer science
  • At least five years of business analysis and/or web analysis experience
  • Understanding of a variety of internet technologies and platforms, entity relationship diagrams, relational database concepts and software development life cycles
  • Ability to work in a fast paced team environment and consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience as an agile business analyst a plus
  • Healthcare industry knowledge is a plus
