Questions for Dr. Stern

About Your Urgent Care Center

10. I learned a lot from your lectures and comments. I would like to ask you to send me a spreadsheet fee analysis and sample cost savings sheet. I am an Internist in outpatient group practice in PA for ten years and have long time experience with working in ER as a part time job, I am thinking about opening an urgent care in our area not related to our practice and manage the practice besides helping with some hours. Would you please tell me:

  • Do I need to negotiate a new contract with insurance companies for the UC?
  • Do I need a new credentials with these insurance companies if I already have that from my practice?
  • Can you name a few companies for software for the UC?

My assistant will send you the requested documents.

  • If you are seeing patients in a new company with a new TIN, then you will need new contracts.
  • If you have a new practice with a new TIN, then credentialing will start from scratch.
  • I work with Practice Velocity, a company that provides urgent care software solutions for over 500 urgent care centers in 42 states. When you get closer to opening, we would be happy to demo the software online. As you know, we operate ten urgent care centers in Illinois and Oklahoma. We, also, give tours of our centers and offices on a regular basis. Since we are so easy to access (only one hour from Chicago O’Hare Airport), over 200 people took advantage of full-day tours of our centers. If you would like to visit, give us a call and set up a tour.
