33. I have a question. Do you routinely send out for wound or urine culture and sensitivity?
Our physicians are free to order a C&S whenever he or she thinks it is appropriate.
Wounds: In the past, we cultured wounds and abscesses fairly rarely. With the rise of community acquired MRSA, we are culturing most wounds. Urine: When we see an uncomplicated UTI, we rarely culture the urine. We do culture recurrent UTIs or in cases with complicating factors, such as recent hospitalization, pyelo, etc.
