34. I have a question for you. We operate a Family Practice clinic with an Urgent Care emphasis. We are having a hard time with billing. How can we get more for the urgent care visits than for the regular family practice visits? Is it a modifier? Is it the way we bill for office visit 11 or facility?
If you operate a true urgent care center, you may ask payors if they will allow you to bill S9088 (services rendered in an urgent care center) in addition to other codes. Alternatively, you may negotiate higher rates for urgent care visits. You could even set up a separate TIN and use this for billing for the urgent care, if the family practice and urgent care can be truly separated. I hope this helps.
