Questions for Dr. Stern

About Your Urgent Care Center

44. May I ask what CPT code you use to perform a Wood's Lamp Evaluation to diagnose or not diagnose a Corneal Abrasion?

There is no separate set of codes for the Woods lamp. You should use standard E/M codes.
Some centers use templates that produce documentation to substantiate the ophtho E/M codes 92002 to 92014.  Some payors balk at paying these codes except to ophthalmologists, but with proper documentation and a clear audit trail we have won all appeals on this subject.
