About Your Urgent Care Center

72. What is required by the state of New York to open an Urgent Care Facility?

Thanks for contacting Practice Velocity. Practice Velocity specializes in helping urgent care centers achieve peace-of-mind profitability through cutting-edge coding and billing software solutions. Our software solutions include help with most aspects of urgent care center operations. We are in the process of rolling out our new Tablet PC EMR, which will allow you to monitor and optimize most aspects of urgent care operations.

As to your specific question about rules for urgent care in NYS, you will need to follow the basic rules for opening a physician office. I am not a lawyer, but to my knowledge, our clients have not encountered any unique rules or licensing for urgent care in NYS. Some issues in NYS relate to med dispensing and MCO contracting. NYS has specific rules limiting dispensing of med only for a 72-hour supply. MCOs (including United Healthcare and Empire) have been somewhat reluctant to contract with urgent care centers, but this appears to be improving.

With over 500 urgent care centers in 42 states, Practice Velocity now serves more urgent care centers for charting and coding than all other systems combined.
Our experience tells us that, Practice Velocity will exceed your expectations with the:

  • fastest charting,
  • easiest implementation, and
  • most return on investment.

Try PiVoTs for charting and coding for 30-days. If we don’t deliver, simply stop using the product and you don’t pay a thing. No questions asked.

The owners of Practice Velocity also operate ten urgent care centers in Illinois and Oklahoma. We would be delighted to host your team for a full-day tour of our urgent care centers and software company. Feel free to call and schedule a visit to our urgent care headquarters (only one hour from O’Hare Airport). Over 300 urgent care professionals took advantage of tours of our urgent care operations last year. During the tour, we outline our entire operation, including:

  • Reception
  • Marketing
  • Site selection
  • Added services
  • Occupational medicine
  • Patient flow
  • Whatever else you wish to review

To schedule a demo or to schedule a tour of our headquarters, call 888-357-4209 and ask for Dana (ext. 2051).We look forward to speaking with you.
