About Your Urgent Care Center

9. I just visited www.practicevelocity.com, and found it very interesting. I am interested in gathering as much information as possible on urgent care centers and all that is involved in a startup of an urgent care center. What other sources do you believe would be useful for someone as myself interested in starting a center? Also, is it required that the owner of an urgent care center be a licensed MD?

National Med Network (www.nationalmednetwork.com) does consulting for urgent care centers. They have helped scores of centers startup. In most states, a physician must be in the ownership OR you will have to set up a medical management company. Virginia is one state that does not seem to require physician ownership. The Urgent Care Association of America (www.ucaoa.org) runs a session on starting an urgent care center at both the fall and spring conferences. This is probably the best place to get up to speed on the subject.
